It displays as '41-E' on the panel and is accompanied by an alarm. A related code, OP-Er, appears when the option configuration on the two boards does not match. Both codes point to a failure in the communication link between these two components.

A power reset, done by unplugging the unit for several minutes and plugging it back in, may temporarily clear the error if it was triggered by a brief communication glitch. However, if there is an underlying hardware problem such as a damaged wire or a faulty board, the error will return. A reset alone is not a fix for persistent error 41.

Repair costs vary depending on the root cause. If only a wiring harness or connector repair is needed, costs are typically lower, often in the range of $75 to $200 for a service call and labor.
