The 84Er code indicates an IPM (Intelligent Power Module) fault on the inverter PCB. The IPM is the section of the inverter control board that regulates power delivery to the compressor. This fault means the inverter has detected an abnormal electrical condition, such as a short circuit or overcurrent, and has stopped compressor operation to prevent damage.

When the 84Er fault is active, the compressor is not running properly, meaning the refrigerator is not maintaining safe food storage temperatures. Food safety becomes a concern within a few hours, especially in the fresh food compartment. It is best to address the error promptly and transfer perishable items to a functioning refrigerator or cooler in the meantime.
