A failed damper can cause the fresh food compartment to become too warm or too cold depending on whether the damper is stuck open or closed. Running the refrigerator with a dA-Er code active risks food spoilage if the compartment temperature rises outside a safe range. It is advisable to check food temperatures and schedule a repair promptly rather than continuing normal use indefinitely.

A power reset may temporarily clear the error code from the display, but if the underlying component fault remains, the code will return once the refrigerator attempts to operate the damper motor again and cannot confirm reed switch feedback within one minute.
