The F-1 code indicates a condenser fan motor error in the machine room of the refrigerator. The control board has detected a problem with the fan's feedback signal line, the motor wiring, or the motor itself. This fan is critical for cooling the compressor area, and without it the refrigerator cannot maintain proper temperatures. Diagnosis starts with checking the voltage at main PCB connector CN75 between the Sky-blue and Gray wires, which should read 7V to 12V.

It is not advisable to continue using the refrigerator normally with an active F-1 error. A non-functioning condenser fan allows heat to build up around the compressor, which can reduce its lifespan or cause it to shut down completely. Food safety is also a concern if cooling capacity drops. Address the fault as promptly as possible.

A power reset may temporarily clear the F-1 code, but the error will return if the underlying fault is not corrected. Simply unplugging the unit and plugging it back in does not repair a broken wire, failed motor, or faulty connection. A reset can be useful as a first step to confirm whether the fault is intermittent, but it should not be treated as a solution on its own.

Some causes of the F-1 error are DIY-friendly, such as reseating a loose connector at CN75 or clearing a jammed fan blade. Checking the wiring harness for visible breaks is also a straightforward task. Replacing the condenser fan motor or main PCB requires basic appliance repair skills, correct replacement parts, and safe handling of electrical components, so comfort with those tasks should guide your decision.

If the fix involves only reseating a connector or clearing a fan obstruction, there is no parts cost. A replacement condenser fan motor typically costs in the range of $30 to $100 for the part, with additional labor costs if a technician performs the repair.
