F2 indicates a freezer temperature sensor error. The main PCB has detected a signal from the FZ-Sensor that corresponds to a temperature above 149°F (+65°C) or below -58°F (-50°C), which is outside the valid operating range. This typically points to a sensor failure, a wiring problem, or a loose connector rather than an actual extreme temperature in the freezer. The refrigerator flags this code to alert you that it cannot reliably monitor freezer temperature.

A power reset may temporarily clear the F2 code, but the error will return if the underlying sensor fault is still present. Because the main PCB continuously monitors the freezer sensor voltage, any persistent wiring, connector, or sensor problem will trigger the code again shortly after the reset. A reset is useful for confirming whether the fault is intermittent, but it is not a repair.

Repair costs depend on the root cause. If the fix involves reseating a connector or repositioning the sensor, there may be no parts cost, only a service call fee ranging from roughly $75 to $150. When F2 is active, the refrigerator cannot reliably monitor freezer temperature, which means it may not respond correctly to temperature changes in the freezer compartment.
