Samsung Refrigerator Error Code FF

FF indicates that the refrigerator is operating in Manual Operation Mode 1, also called forced or test mode. This is not a fault code and does not indicate a component failure. In this mode, the compressor runs at a fixed speed of 3600 RPM for diagnostic purposes. The display will remain until test mode is manually exited.

The refrigerator will continue to cool while in test mode since the compressor is actively running, but this mode is not designed for extended use. Running the compressor continuously at a fixed 3600 RPM without the adaptive control logic active is not ideal for long-term operation. It is best to exit test mode as soon as you notice the FF display.

In the vast majority of cases, there is no repair cost at all because FF is not a fault and requires no parts replacement. If the code appeared after a service visit, contacting the technician to have them exit test mode should be covered under that service call. In the unlikely event that a faulty control board is causing the unit to enter test mode on its own, control board replacement costs can range from around 100 dollars to over 300 dollars depending on the model and labor rates in your area.

Because FF is a mode indicator rather than a fault, there is nothing to repair. You simply need to exit test mode using the appropriate control panel button sequence for your specific model. If you are unsure of the sequence, unplugging the refrigerator for a few minutes may also clear the mode. The unit should return to normal automatic operation once test mode is deactivated.

A power reset by unplugging the unit for several minutes can clear the test mode state in many cases, which will remove the FF display. If the code reappears immediately after the reset, test mode may be getting reactivated by a stuck button or a control board issue worth investigating. In most cases, a single power cycle is sufficient to return the refrigerator to normal operation.
