The refrigerator's main control board has detected either a missing or abnormal feedback signal from the fan, a wiring disconnection, or a motor failure. This fan is responsible for circulating cold air through the fresh food section, so the error can cause warm temperatures and uneven cooling in that compartment.

The error itself is not a safety hazard, but it does require prompt attention to prevent food spoilage. Without a functioning fresh food fan, the compartment will not maintain safe temperatures, and food stored there can spoil faster than expected. Continuing to run the refrigerator in this condition can also stress other components, so diagnosis and repair should not be delayed.

Repair costs depend on the root cause. If the fix is simply reseating a loose wire connector, there may be no parts cost at all. A power reset may temporarily clear the error code from the display, but if the underlying fault in the fan motor, wiring, or feedback signal line is not corrected, the code will return. Resetting without fixing the root cause also risks continued food spoilage.
