The cause is typically a failed thermistor, a wiring fault, or a loose sensor connector at the main PCB.

A Freezer MAX error means the control board cannot reliably read freezer temperature, so it cannot confirm that food is being kept at a safe temperature. The underlying sensor or wiring fault must be diagnosed and corrected before the code will stay cleared permanently.

Some causes of Freezer MAX are DIY-accessible. Reseating a loose connector at CN30, repositioning a displaced sensor housing, or inspecting the wiring harness for visible damage are reasonable first steps. If the thermistor itself has failed or a wire is broken inside the harness, replacing the sensor or the wiring section is required. If you are not comfortable measuring voltages at the PCB connector, a qualified technician should handle the repair.
