Samsung Refrigerator Error Code FZ-FAN Error

The FZ-FAN Error means the refrigerator's main control board has detected a problem with the freezer evaporator fan motor. The fault can stem from a contact issue on the feedback signal line, a disconnected motor wiring harness, or a failed motor. Because this fan circulates cold air through both compartments, temperatures will rise if the issue is not resolved promptly.

Continued use is not recommended once this error appears. Without the freezer fan operating correctly, cold air cannot circulate properly and food in both the freezer and refrigerator sections is at risk of reaching unsafe temperatures. Address the fault as soon as possible to protect stored food and prevent further component stress.

Repair costs depend on the root cause. If the fix is simply reconnecting a loose wiring harness or defrosting an ice blockage, there may be little to no parts cost involved. A replacement freezer evaporator fan motor typically runs in the range of $30 to $80 for parts alone. If the main PCB requires replacement, parts and labor costs can range from $150 to $350 or more depending on the model and service provider.

Some causes of this error are DIY-accessible. Start by unplugging the refrigerator and manually defrosting the freezer to rule out an ice jam on the fan blade. Next, visually inspect the wiring harness from the main PCB connector CN76 to the fan motor for loose or separated connections. If the wiring and defrost are not the issue, testing voltage at the PCB connector and replacing the fan motor may require more technical experience.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code from the display, but the code will return if the underlying cause has not been fixed. Resetting without repairing the fan circuit does not restore fan operation. The fault must be diagnosed and corrected at the motor, wiring, or PCB level for the error to stay cleared.
