Samsung Refrigerator Error Code HUMIDITY-SENSOR ERROR

This error indicates that the main PCB has detected a fault in the humidity sensor circuit. The cause can be a separated sensor housing, a loose or corroded connector, a broken wire in the harness, or a short circuit within the sensor. The control board monitors voltage at connector CN30 between pins 1 and 3, and flags the error when that voltage falls outside the normal 4.5V to 1.0V range.

The refrigerator may continue cooling even with this error active, but the humidity control function will be compromised, which can affect food preservation quality. Running the appliance in a fault state for an extended period is not recommended, as the underlying wiring issue could potentially worsen. Addressing the error promptly is the best approach.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code from the display, but if the underlying fault in the sensor circuit has not been corrected, the error will return. Resetting without repairing is not a solution. The voltage at CN30 pins 1 and 3 must be within the 4.5V to 1.0V specification before the error will stay cleared.

Some causes of this error are DIY-accessible, such as reseating a loose connector or repositioning a displaced sensor housing. However, diagnosing the fault accurately requires a multimeter to check voltage at the main PCB connector CN30. If the harness is damaged or the sensor itself has failed, replacing those components involves working around refrigerator wiring and may be better handled by a qualified technician.

Repair costs depend on the root cause. If only a connector needs to be reseated or cleaned, there may be little to no parts cost, though a service call fee will apply. Replacing the humidity sensor itself typically runs in the range of $20 to $80 for the part, while a damaged wiring harness or a faulty main PCB will increase the total cost significantly, potentially reaching $150 to $400 or more with labor included.
