This error means the main control board has detected a problem with the ice maker temperature sensor circuit. The fault is triggered when the sensor reports a temperature above +149°F (+65°C) or below -58°F (-50°C), which indicates a sensor that is disconnected, shorted, physically separated from its housing, or has a poor electrical contact. The ice maker may stop producing ice while this error is active.

This error does not present a safety hazard to the household. It is an electronic fault code related to a low-voltage sensor circuit. However, if the ice maker is not functioning as a result, food stored in the freezer should be monitored to confirm the freezer compartment is maintaining proper temperature independently of the ice maker fault.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code from the display, but if the underlying fault in the sensor circuit is still present, the error will return. A power cycle or control panel reset does not repair a disconnected sensor, broken wire, or failed sensor component. The error should be diagnosed and the root cause corrected to prevent it from coming back.
