A resistance test at the main PCB connector is the first step to pinpoint the exact failure.

A power reset may temporarily clear the error code, but the fault will return if the underlying hardware problem is not corrected. Because this error is triggered by an out-of-range resistance reading in the heater circuit, the electrical fault must be diagnosed and repaired for the error to stay cleared. Repeated resets without repair will not resolve the problem.

A shorted heater element, indicated by a 0 ohm reading, presents a higher concern than an open circuit and should be addressed promptly. An open circuit condition means the heater is simply not functioning, which will cause ice to clump and affect dispenser operation but is not an immediate safety hazard. Either condition should be diagnosed and repaired rather than left unaddressed.
