This error means the refrigerator has detected a problem with the fan motor in the ice maker compartment. The Main PCB monitors the fan through a feedback signal line, and the error appears when that signal is missing or incorrect. Causes include a loose wiring connection, a separated motor wire, or a failed motor. Ice production will typically stop when this error is active.

The refrigerator's main cooling system for food storage will generally continue to operate, so food safety is not immediately at risk. However, the ice maker compartment may not maintain proper temperatures, meaning ice production will stop or ice quality will be poor. It is best to resolve the fault promptly to prevent secondary issues in the ice maker system.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code from the display, but if the underlying fault is still present, the error will return once the refrigerator resumes normal operation and the Main PCB attempts to read the fan feedback signal again. Resetting is useful for confirming whether the fault is intermittent, but it is not a substitute for diagnosing and repairing the actual cause.

Some causes are DIY-friendly, particularly if the issue is a loose or disconnected wiring connector at the fan motor or at the Main PCB connector CN76. Checking voltage at CN76 between pin 2 (Black) and pin 1 (Gray) for a reading between 7V and 12V is a straightforward first step. If the harness is intact and voltage is correct, replacing the fan motor requires basic appliance repair skills. Work involving the PCB itself is better left to a qualified technician.

If the fix is a simple wiring reconnection, you may have no parts cost at all, with labor charges from a technician typically ranging from $75 to $150. A replacement ice room fan motor generally costs between $30 and $80 for the part, plus labor if you hire a technician.
