Samsung Refrigerator Error Code Ice Room Sensor Error

This error means the temperature sensor inside the ice room compartment has a fault. The refrigerator detected either a temperature reading outside the valid range (above +149°F or below -58°F) or a signal problem caused by a loose connector, disconnected wire, separated sensor housing, or a short circuit in the sensor circuit. The main PCB uses this sensor to control cooling and ice production in the ice compartment, so the error must be resolved for normal operation.

The refrigerator's main food compartment may continue cooling normally, but the ice maker section can behave unpredictably when this error is active. Ice production may stop or operate incorrectly. It is best to address the error promptly, but the unit is generally not a safety hazard in the short term as long as food temperatures in the main compartment remain acceptable.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code, but it will return if the underlying problem is not corrected. The error is generated by an actual out-of-range voltage or signal condition at the sensor circuit, so resetting the board without fixing the sensor, connector, or wiring will not resolve the fault. Always diagnose and repair the root cause before relying on a reset.

Some causes are DIY-friendly. You can inspect and reseat the sensor connector at the main PCB (checking CN78 pins 10 and 1 for voltage between 1.0V and 4.5V), re-secure a sensor that has separated from its housing, and visually inspect the wiring harness for obvious damage. If the sensor itself has failed or the main PCB is faulty, part replacement is required and may be better handled by a technician if you are not comfortable with appliance wiring.

If only a connector needs reseating, there may be no parts cost at all. A replacement ice room temperature sensor typically costs between $10 and $40 for the part. If the main PCB requires replacement, parts alone can range from $100 to $300 or more, with additional labor costs if a technician performs the repair.
