Lc-Er indicates a communication failure between the Load MICOM and the Main MICOM inside the refrigerator. The fault triggers when the Main MICOM receives no response from the Load MICOM within 20 seconds after initiating a communication request. It can also appear when the option configuration stored in one of the PCBs does not match the correct value for that model.

A power reset may temporarily clear the display, but if the underlying communication failure between the Main MICOM and Load MICOM persists, the Lc-Er code will return. A reset does not resolve a faulty PCB, a wiring fault, or an option configuration mismatch. The root cause must be identified and corrected for the error to stay cleared.

Repair costs depend on which component is at fault. A wiring harness repair is typically the least expensive fix, often in the range of $75 to $150 including labor. Replacing the Main PCB or Panel PCB generally costs between $150 and $400 or more depending on the specific board, part availability, and local labor rates. If both boards require replacement, expect costs toward the higher end of that range.

Proper diagnosis of Lc-Er requires an oscilloscope to check the communication signal between the Main PCB and the Load or Panel PCB, which puts it beyond most DIY repairs. You can inspect wiring harness connectors between the boards for looseness or visible damage as a first step. However, if a control board needs to be replaced and programmed with the correct option settings, a qualified technician is strongly recommended.

A communication failure between control boards can affect the refrigerator's ability to properly manage loads such as fans, dampers, or other components, which may compromise cooling performance. It is not advisable to rely on the appliance for food storage for an extended period while this fault is active. Have the unit inspected promptly to avoid potential food spoilage.
