The cause can be a disconnected connector, a separated sensor housing, a broken wire, or a failed sensor.

A power cycle or control reset may temporarily clear the displayed code, but the error will return if the underlying sensor circuit fault is still present. The R-10- code is generated by a real-time circuit reading, so the fault must be physically resolved before the code will stay clear. Do not rely on a reset as a fix.

Repair costs vary depending on the root cause. If only a connector needs reseating, there may be no parts cost, though a service call fee typically ranges from $75 to $150.
