The most common starting point for diagnosis is connector CN30, pins 2 through 5.

It is not advisable to rely on the refrigerator for perishable food storage while this error is active. Without a valid temperature signal, the control board cannot regulate cooling accurately, which means the compartment may run too warm or behave erratically. Check the actual internal temperature with a separate thermometer and transfer perishables to another cooled space if the temperature rises above 40°F.

If the fix is simply reseating connector CN30, there is no parts cost involved. Replacing the NTC temperature sensor typically costs between $15 and $60 for the part, depending on the specific model.
