This tells the control board that the sensor, its wiring, or its connector has failed rather than the surrounding temperature actually being that extreme.

A power reset may temporarily clear the MIN error code from the display, but it will return if the underlying sensor defect is not corrected. Because the error is triggered by an out-of-range voltage reading from a hardware component, the fault condition will persist until the sensor, wiring, or connector issue is physically repaired or the component is replaced.

Repair costs depend on which component has failed. If the fix is simply reseating a loose connector or repositioning the sensor housing, there may be no parts cost involved. Replacing the ambient temperature sensor itself is generally an inexpensive repair, with parts typically ranging from $15 to $50. If you have a multimeter, you can measure the voltage between pins #1 and #4 on connector CN31 to determine if the circuit is within the 0.6V to 4.7V valid range. If the sensor itself has failed or the main PCB is at fault, replacing those components typically requires more technical experience.

A failed ambient temperature sensor can affect how accurately the refrigerator manages its cooling cycles, since the control board relies on that sensor input for operational decisions. While the refrigerator may continue running in the short term, operating with a confirmed sensor fault risks inconsistent temperatures that could affect food safety. It is best to diagnose and resolve the MIN error promptly rather than leaving it unaddressed.
