ASKO Dryer Error Code Sensor fault

The Sensor fault code means the dryer's moisture sensor is reporting a voltage value outside the acceptable range of 0V to 6V for at least 300 seconds. The moisture sensor measures the dampness of laundry inside the drum, and when its signal is unreasonable, the control board flags the fault. This can result from a hardware problem with the sensor or simply from running the dryer empty or with already-dry clothing.

The Sensor fault itself does not indicate an electrical hazard or fire risk, but it does mean the dryer cannot accurately gauge when laundry is dry. Running the dryer without a functioning moisture sensor may result in over-drying or under-drying your laundry. It is best to diagnose and resolve the fault before relying on automatic drying cycles.

Opening the dryer door resets and clears the displayed fault message. However, if an underlying problem exists with the sensing bars, wiring, or sensor assembly, the fault code will return once the dryer runs for 300 seconds and detects an out-of-range voltage again. A permanent fix requires identifying and correcting the root cause, not just resetting the display.

Opening the door will clear the fault message from the display, but it does not repair the underlying cause if a hardware issue exists. If the fault was triggered by an empty drum or dry clothing, simply loading a proper wet laundry load and restarting should prevent the code from returning. If the code reappears during a normal wet load, further diagnosis of the sensor, wiring, and sensing bars is needed.

If the issue is dirty sensing bars or loose wiring, the repair cost can be minimal, typically just the cost of your time and basic cleaning supplies. If the moisture sensor assembly needs to be replaced, parts and labor costs generally range from around $80 to $250 depending on your location and whether you hire a technician. Control board replacement, if required, can cost considerably more.
