ASKO Washer Error Code C

Error code C is a check-step fault triggered by the timer unit when it detects a problem in one of several systems. Possible causes include a thermistor that is shorted or open, a heating element that fails to reach the set temperature within the allowed time, a water inlet that does not fill or drain within required time limits, or an internal timer code transmission fault. Because it covers multiple systems, the specific cause must be identified through systematic diagnostic checks.

Continuing to run the washer while error C is active is not recommended. If the fault involves the heating element or thermistor, the machine may not reach the correct wash temperature, which can result in inadequate cleaning. If the fault is related to water fill or drain timing, continuing to operate could lead to overfilling or incomplete draining.

Repair costs vary depending on which component is at fault. Replacing a thermistor or level switch typically falls in the lower cost range, while a heating element replacement is a mid-range repair. A faulty timer or control unit is generally the most expensive component to replace. Labour costs will add to the total, so expect a range from modest for simple component swaps to significantly higher for control unit replacement.

Some causes of error C, such as a kinked inlet hose or a blocked filter reducing water flow, can be checked and corrected without specialized tools. However, testing thermistor resistance, verifying heating element continuity, and evaluating the level switch or pressure sensor typically require a multimeter and familiarity with appliance wiring. Internal timer or control unit faults are best handled by an experienced technician.

A reset may temporarily clear the error display, but if the underlying fault has not been corrected, the code will return when the affected cycle stage is reached again. The thermistor, heating element, water inlet timing, and timer code transmission all need to be checked and any faulty components repaired or replaced before the error will stay cleared.
