E:6101 means the dishwasher detected an open circuit to the drain pump or measured incorrect resistance values at the drain pump motor. The control board checks the drain pump circuit at the end of the program, and when continuity or resistance is outside the expected range, it stops the cycle and displays this code. The issue can be a wiring problem, a bad connector, or a failed pump motor.

It is not recommended to continue running the dishwasher with E:6101 active. The error indicates the drain pump circuit is not functioning correctly, meaning the dishwasher may be unable to pump water out at the end of a cycle. Running cycles without a working drain pump can result in standing water inside the tub and potential overflow.

Repair costs depend on which component has failed. If the fix is simply reconnecting a loose wiring connector, there may be little to no parts cost. Replacing a damaged wiring harness typically runs in the range of $30 to $80 for parts. A replacement drain pump motor generally costs between $60 and $150 for the part, with additional labor charges if a technician performs the repair.

Start by inspecting the wiring and connectors leading to the drain pump for loose, corroded, or damaged terminals. Reconnect or reseat any loose connectors and check the harness for visible damage. If wiring looks intact, use a multimeter to measure voltage at the pump motor during a drain cycle and to check the motor's resistance values. A motor with incorrect resistance will need to be replaced.

Resetting the dishwasher may temporarily clear the code, but it will return if the underlying problem is not repaired. The control board will check the drain pump circuit at the end of every cycle, so the fault will reappear as soon as the dishwasher attempts to drain again. A proper repair of the wiring or pump is required to resolve the error permanently.
