E:9000 is an under-voltage or over-voltage error, most commonly triggered when the main power supply voltage drops below 120V. The dishwasher's control board detects this low-voltage condition and logs the error. The appliance itself is not defective; the problem lies with the incoming power supply. Symptoms include poor rinsing, inadequate drying, and extended cycle times.

Operating the dishwasher with chronically low voltage can stress the motor and heating element over time, as these components draw higher current when voltage is depressed. While a single occurrence may not cause immediate damage, continuing to run the machine without resolving the voltage issue can shorten the lifespan of internal components. Resolve the power supply issue before returning to regular use.

Because E:9000 points to a power supply issue rather than a faulty appliance part, repair costs vary widely depending on the cause. Tightening a loose outlet connection may cost nothing, while having an electrician run a dedicated circuit or replace wiring could range from $150 to $500 or more depending on local labor rates and the extent of the electrical work required.
