What U35 means on a Dacor oven
The U35 error code on a Dacor oven indicates that the upper or single oven temperature sensor (probe 3) has registered a shorted condition. Specifically, the analog-to-digital converter on the relay board has detected a value of 0x0010 or lower continuously for 60 seconds or more. This threshold represents an extremely low resistance reading at the probe input, which corresponds to a short circuit rather than a normal temperature-sensing resistance. Under normal operating conditions, the temperature probe presents a predictable resistance that varies with oven cavity temperature, and values this low fall outside any realistic operating range.
The temperature probe in this context is a resistive sensor, typically a platinum RTD or similar element, whose resistance the control board reads and converts to a temperature value. When the A/D value collapses to 0x0010 or below, the board interprets this as a shorted probe circuit. The fault can originate at the probe itself, at the wiring harness connecting the probe to the relay board, or at the connector terminals on the relay board. A short can develop from pinched or melted wiring inside the oven cavity, corroded or bridged connector pins, or internal failure of the probe element.
Diagnosis begins at the relay board by visually inspecting the probe connector for signs of heat damage, corrosion, or pin contact bridging. The probe should then be tested directly at its connector to determine whether the short is internal to the probe or present in the harness. If the harness and connectors appear intact and the short resolves when the probe is disconnected, the probe itself is the most likely failed component. If the short persists with the probe disconnected, inspect the harness for damage along its entire run through the oven cavity.

Common causes of U35
- 01
Failed temperature probe (internal short)
Part replacementThe probe element itself can develop an internal short circuit, causing the resistance to drop to near-zero and triggering the 0x0010 A/D threshold. Disconnect the probe at its connector and measure resistance across the probe terminals to confirm.
- 02
Damaged or pinched wiring harness
Part replacementThe harness running from the probe to the relay board can be pinched by oven components, melted by heat exposure, or abraded over time, creating a short between conductors. Inspect the full harness run for visible damage or insulation breakdown.
- 03
Loose or corroded probe connector
Wiring / connectionCorrosion or debris bridging the pins inside the probe connector at the relay board can create a false short circuit reading. Inspect the connector closely and clean or reseat it to rule this out before replacing components.
- 04
Relay board connector seating issue
Wiring / connectionA poorly seated probe connector at the relay board can produce inconsistent or erroneous A/D readings. Firmly reseat the connector and confirm it is fully locked before further diagnosis.
- 05
Relay board fault
Part replacementIf the probe and harness both test normal when isolated, the relay board input circuit itself may have failed, causing it to register falsely low A/D values. Board replacement would be required in this scenario.
