Electrolux Cooktop Error Code 54

Error code 54 indicates a break in the temperature sensor circuit for the right-rear heating element. The cooktop uses an RTD sensor to monitor element temperature, and when that sensor circuit reads as open or broken, the board disables the element and displays this code. The fault can be in the sensor connector, the RTD sensor itself, the wiring harness, or the filter board.

The right-rear element will be disabled while code 54 is active, so it will not heat. Other elements on the cooktop may still function normally. It is best to have the fault repaired before relying on the unit, as the safety monitoring for that element zone is not operational until the sensor circuit is restored.

Resetting the cooktop by cutting power at the breaker may temporarily clear the display, but code 54 will return as soon as the power board attempts to read the right-rear RTD again and finds an open circuit. The underlying sensor or wiring fault must be diagnosed and corrected for the error to be permanently resolved.

A knowledgeable DIYer can start by checking whether the RTD connector at the power board is fully seated and secure. Testing the RTD sensor with a multimeter for approximately 1000 ohms at room temperature is also within reach for someone comfortable working with appliances. However, if the wiring or internal boards need replacement, working safely around cooktop components requires comfort with electrical disassembly, and some may prefer a certified technician.

Repair costs depend on which component has failed. If only a loose connector needs reseating, there may be no parts cost at all.
