E036 indicates a communication error between the ESEC user interface board and the Filter Circuit Board that controls the left side induction cooking zones. The cooktop has detected that the two boards can no longer exchange data correctly. This typically points to a wiring harness or connector issue, though board failure is also possible. The left side cooking zones will usually be non-functional while this fault is active.

The left side cooking zones will generally be disabled or unreliable when E036 is active, so continued use of those zones is not advisable. The right side zones may still function, but relying on a cooktop with an active communication fault is not recommended until the underlying cause is identified and corrected. Disconnect the unit from power if you notice any unusual behavior such as sparking or burning odors.
