E051 indicates that the temperature sensor for the left front induction zone has an open or broken circuit. The cooktop cannot receive a valid temperature reading from that sensor, so it disables the left front burner as a safety precaution. The fault can be caused by a loose connector, a failed sensor, or damaged wiring.

The left front induction zone will be disabled when E051 is active, so it will not produce heat on that burner. Other zones may continue to operate normally. While the cooktop is not in immediate danger, you should not attempt to bypass the fault, as the temperature sensor is a critical safety component that prevents overheating of the induction coil.

Repair costs depend on the root cause. If only a reconnection is needed, you may pay only a diagnostic service fee, typically in the range of 75 to 150 dollars. A replacement temperature sensor generally costs between 20 and 80 dollars for the part, plus labor. If the induction housing assembly or control board requires replacement, total repair costs can range from 200 to 500 dollars or more depending on the model and technician rates.

The first step is to check whether the element temperature sensor connector is securely seated at the induction housing assembly, which requires accessing the interior of the cooktop. If you are comfortable working with appliance wiring and can reference the wiring diagram, this connector check is a reasonable DIY step. If reseating the connector does not resolve the fault, further diagnosis involving resistance testing or component replacement is best handled by a qualified technician.

Cycling power to the cooktop by switching off the circuit breaker for 30 to 60 seconds may temporarily clear the display, but the code will return if the underlying fault in the sensor circuit has not been resolved. A reset alone is not a repair and should only be used as part of the diagnostic process to confirm whether a loose connection has been corrected.
