Error code 41 means the dryer detected an open door condition at the start of a cycle. The control board monitors the door switch circuit and will not allow the dryer to run if it does not receive a signal confirming the door is latched. This can be caused by a faulty door switch, a broken latch, or a wiring problem in the door switch circuit.

The dryer is designed to prevent operation when this code is active, so it will not run until the door circuit issue is resolved. You should not attempt to bypass the door switch, as the door interlock is a safety feature that prevents the drum from spinning with the door open. Address the underlying cause before using the dryer.

If only a door switch replacement is needed, parts typically range from around $10 to $40 depending on the model, with professional labor adding $75 to $150 or more. A door latch assembly can cost a similar amount in parts.
