The F 01 error code on an Electrolux washer indicates an internal fault within the main control board. This is a self-diagnosed failure where the control board's own circuitry has detected an anomaly it cannot resolve through normal operation. The control board manages all washer functions including motor speed, water inlet, drain timing, and cycle sequencing, so a fault here can cause the machine to halt mid-cycle or refuse to start entirely.

The root cause is typically a hardware failure on the control board itself. This can result from power surge damage, failed onboard components such as capacitors or relay drivers, or corrupted firmware caused by an interrupted power event. Because the fault is internal to the control, external sensors and wiring harnesses are generally not the primary suspect unless a short circuit from a peripheral component caused damage to the board.

Electrolux's diagnostic procedure begins with a soft reset by pressing the Stop/Clear pad. This clears any temporary fault flags held in memory. If the F 01 code disappears and does not return on the next wash cycle, the event was likely a transient power or communication glitch. If the code persists immediately or returns when the washer is restarted, the control board has a confirmed internal failure and must be replaced.
