E24 on a Frigidaire dryer indicates a short circuit in the control NTC thermistor circuit. The control thermistor is a temperature sensor that should measure approximately 50K ohms of resistance. When the electronic control detects resistance far below that value, it registers a short and displays E24. The fault can originate in the thermistor itself, the wiring harness, or the control board.

You should not continue using the dryer while E24 is active. The control thermistor is a critical safety component that helps the dryer monitor temperatures during operation. A shorted or failed thermistor means the control cannot accurately track heat levels, which creates a potential overheating risk. Stop using the dryer until the fault is diagnosed and repaired.

Repair costs depend on which component has failed. A replacement control thermistor is generally an inexpensive part, typically in the range of $15 to $40. If the wiring harness requires repair or replacement, costs can vary based on the extent of the damage.
