Thermal Limiter Open Circuit

Thermal Limiter Open Circuit — Outlet Thermal Limiter tripped, Inlet Thermal Limiter tripped (Gas Model only), or wiring defective.

First step from the service manual

Check Outlet Thermal Limiter for continuity. For Gas Model, also check Inlet Thermal Limiter for continuity. If Thermal Limiter is open, check for evidence of high temperature event and any resulting damage. If no further damage is evident, replace Thermal Limiter and retest.

Thermal Limiter Open Circuit — Outlet Thermal

From Service Manual 889253, p.25:

1.Check Outlet Thermal Limiter for continuity. For Gas Model, also check Inlet Thermal Limiter for continuity. If Thermal Limiter is open, check for evidence of high temperature event and any resulting damage. If no further damage is evident, replace Thermal Limiter and retest.

2.Measure the inlet valve coil resistance at the valve connector. Expected: 1,000 to 1,200 ohms per coil at room temperature.

3.Verify static water supply pressure at the inlet hose. Below 20 psi or fluctuating supply commonly triggers fill-timeout faults.
