Frigidaire Dryer Error Code E68
Key (button) stuck fault
Key (button) stuck fault — one of the keys (buttons) is stuck closed (active).
First step from the service manual
Enter function test mode and perform key (button) test to determine which button is at fault. Carefully free the button and perform the test again. If button is free but the key struck code still exists, replace electronic control.
The complete diagnostic procedure includes additional test steps, resistance specifications, wiring diagram references, and component test points.

What E68 means on a Frigidaire dryer
The E68 error code on a Frigidaire dryer indicates a stuck key fault, meaning the control board has detected that one or more buttons on the control panel is registering as continuously pressed or closed. The electronic control monitors each button's input signal and expects it to return to an open (inactive) state after being pressed. When a key remains in a closed state for longer than the control's threshold allows, the board flags E68 and halts normal dryer operation to prevent unintended behavior.
This fault is rooted in the user interface (UI) control panel and the electronic control board. The most common physical cause is a button that is physically stuck in the depressed position due to debris, spilled liquids, or mechanical binding within the button assembly itself. Sticky residue from detergent or fabric softener drips is a frequent culprit, as is physical damage to the overlay or keypad membrane that causes a button to bind against the panel housing.
Diagnosing E68 requires entering function test mode and running the key test to isolate which specific button is at fault. Once identified, the button should be carefully freed and the test repeated. If the stuck key code persists after the button moves freely, the fault has shifted to the electronic control board itself, which may have an internally shorted input circuit for that key. In that case, replacing the electronic control board is the required repair.

Common causes of E68
- 01
Physically stuck button
Wiring / connectionA button is mechanically jammed in the depressed position due to debris, warping, or impact damage to the control panel. Pressing and releasing each button carefully can help identify which one is not springing back properly.
- 02
Sticky residue under the keypad
Wiring / connectionSpilled liquids such as detergent, fabric softener, or beverages can seep under the control panel overlay and cause a button contact to remain closed. Cleaning around the button carefully may free the contact.
- 03
Damaged control panel overlay or membrane
Part replacementThe flexible membrane or printed overlay behind the buttons can tear, crease, or delaminate, creating constant pressure on a button contact. Visible bubbling, peeling, or creasing of the panel surface are signs of this issue.
- 04
Faulty electronic control board
Part replacementIf the button moves freely and the E68 code still remains after running the key test, the input circuit for that key on the control board is internally shorted. The board must be replaced to resolve the fault.
