Inlet Control Thermistor short circuit

Inlet Control Thermistor short circuit — thermistor or wiring defective.

First step from the service manual

Check resistance of Inlet Control Thermistor, and check wiring for short circuit across Thermistor connections. Resistance should be between 47K Ohm and 66K Ohm at room temperature (68-77°F or 20-25°C). Replace Inlet Control Thermistor and/or wiring and retest.

Inlet Control Thermistor short circuit —

From Service Manual 889282, p.14:

1.Check resistance of Inlet Control Thermistor, and check wiring for short circuit across Thermistor connections. Resistance should be between 47K Ohm and 66K Ohm at room temperature (68-77°F or 20-25°C). Replace Inlet Control Thermistor and/or wiring and retest.

2.Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at the sensor body. Expected: 10 kΩ to 12 kΩ at 77°F (25°C).

3.Check the sensor harness for opens and shorts. Back-probe the sensor pins at the control board connector; a reading outside 5 kΩ to 50 kΩ indicates a failed sensor.
