Specifically, the control monitors the door switch signal across multiple drying cycles. If five consecutive cycles complete without the door signal ever going open (meaning the control never detects the door being opened between cycles), the 00D error is set and the display scrolls the message 'Open Door.' This is a protective feature built into the control logic to catch situations where the door switch circuit is failing to register a proper open state.

The door switch detection circuit is responsible for telling the control board whether the dryer door is physically open or closed. Under normal operation, the signal should briefly go open each time the door is opened between cycles. When the circuit is stuck, the control interprets this as the door never being opened, which is abnormal behavior that triggers the fault after five cycles. The root cause can be either a software-level false detection or a genuine hardware failure in the door switch, the wiring harness connecting the switch to the control board, or the control board itself.
