GE Washer Error Code 19

Error code 19 is a User Interface State Timeout fault. It appears when the washer cycle has been paused for more than 24 hours, or when the pressure sensor detects more than 0.5 inches of water in the tub while the machine has been off for over 24 hours. The most common hardware cause is a water inlet valve that is not closing fully, allowing water to slowly enter the drum. Checking for a leaking valve is the recommended first diagnostic step.

Start by inspecting the water inlet valves for any sign of dripping or seeping water into the tub while the machine is off. If water is present in the drum when the machine has not been recently used, a leaking valve is the likely cause and should be replaced. If the tub is dry, the fault may simply be a 24-hour pause timeout, and restarting or canceling the cycle should clear it. Also inspect the pressure sensor hose for kinks or blockages that could cause a false water-level reading.

If the fault is simply a paused-cycle timeout, there is no repair cost. If a water inlet valve needs replacement, parts typically range from $20 to $80 depending on the specific valve and model, with professional labor adding $75 to $150 or more. A pressure sensor replacement, if needed, generally falls in a similar parts cost range. Diagnosing the exact cause first will help avoid unnecessary parts replacement.

A reset may temporarily clear the code, but it will return if the underlying cause is not addressed. If the fault was triggered by a cycle paused too long, canceling the cycle and starting fresh should resolve it. If a leaking inlet valve is causing water to accumulate in the tub, the code will reappear until the faulty valve is replaced.

It is not recommended to continue using the washer until the cause of the error is identified. If a leaking inlet valve is responsible, water may be accumulating in the tub or around the machine, creating a potential for water damage or overflow. Confirm the tub is empty and dry, and verify no valve is leaking before attempting to run another cycle.
