E35 means the pressure sensor has detected that the water level inside the washer tub has exceeded the acceptable limit, typically above 4.5 inches. The machine stops operation to prevent an overflow situation. This code appears on better model GE washers equipped with advanced pressure sensing. The cause can be either a genuine overfill from a faulty inlet valve or a false reading from a bad sensor or blocked pressure hose.

It is not advisable to continue running the washer while E35 is active. The code indicates a potential overfill condition, which means water could overflow the tub and cause water damage to your home or the machine's electrical components. The washer halts operation as a protective measure, and that protection should be respected until the underlying cause is diagnosed and corrected.

A reset may temporarily clear the E35 code, but if the underlying problem, such as a faulty inlet valve or defective pressure sensor, is still present, the code will return during the next wash cycle. Resetting without repairing the cause is not a permanent solution and leaves the risk of an actual overflow unresolved.
