E4D indicates a VSD Ram Error in the washer's drive system. The VSD, or Variable Speed Drive, is the inverter that controls motor speed and torque. This error typically occurs when the inverter encounters an unexpected load, such as a jammed agitator or an oversized wash load, and cannot recover on its own.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code, but if the underlying cause is not fixed, the E4D will return during the next cycle.
