GE Washer Error Code Push Button Error

The Push Button Error means the washer's control system detected that one or more buttons on the control panel remained in a closed, or pressed, state for 60 seconds or longer. This error appears during Field Service Mode at Position 3, indicated by the Soak LED turning on. It can be caused by a stuck button, debris under the panel, a failed switch, or a faulty control board.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code, but if the underlying cause, such as a stuck button or a failed switch, is still present, the error will return within 60 seconds of the button remaining closed. The root cause must be corrected to permanently resolve the fault.

If the issue is a stuck or dirty button, there may be little to no cost involved beyond a basic service call. Replacing a control panel assembly typically ranges from $100 to $250 in parts, while a control board replacement can range from $150 to $400 or more depending on the model. Labor costs will vary by region and service provider.

Start by inspecting every button on the control panel and pressing each one to confirm it returns fully to its resting position. Clean around the buttons to remove any detergent residue or debris that could be causing a button to stick. If no physical issue is found, the control panel assembly or the control board may need to be replaced.

The washer may not operate normally when this error is active, as the control board may not correctly accept input commands. It is best to avoid running full wash cycles until the fault is diagnosed and resolved to prevent incomplete cycles or unintended behavior.
