Hisense Range Error Code Err 004

Err 004 indicates a touch sensor failure on the user interface board, specifically caused by damaged foil ribbon connectors that link the touch panel to the UI board. These connectors carry capacitive touch signals, and when they are compromised, the board cannot read touch inputs correctly. The error may cause the control panel to become partially or fully unresponsive.

It is not recommended to continue using the range while this error is active. A malfunctioning touch interface could cause unintended control behavior, such as burners or the oven not responding correctly to inputs. Discontinue use until the fault is diagnosed and repaired.

If only reseating the connector resolves the issue, there may be little to no parts cost, though a service call fee could apply if a technician performs the work. If the UI board or touch panel assembly needs replacement, parts and labor costs typically range from around $150 to $350 or more depending on part availability and local labor rates.

The first step is to disconnect one or both touch connectors from the UI board and inspect them for damage, then reseat them firmly. If the connector is undamaged and reseating resolves the issue, no parts are needed. However, if the foil ribbon is visibly torn or corroded, or if the error returns after reseating, replacing the touch panel assembly or UI board is required, which may be beyond a basic DIY repair.

A power reset by unplugging the range or switching off the circuit breaker may temporarily clear the error code, but it will return if the underlying connector damage is not addressed. Resetting does not repair a damaged or faulty foil ribbon connector.
