E12 means the washer failed to fill with water within the allowed time during a fill cycle. The control board monitors the water level via the pressure switch and triggers this fault when the target level is not reached before the timeout expires. The problem can originate in the water supply, the inlet valve, the inlet hoses, or the pressure switch and hose system.

The washer will not progress past the fill stage when E12 is active, so it will not complete a wash cycle. It is safe to leave the machine without risk of flooding since the fault stops operation before overfilling could occur. However, you should resolve the underlying cause before attempting to run a full cycle.

If the fix is simply cleaning clogged inlet screens or straightening a kinked hose, the repair costs nothing beyond your time. Replacing a water inlet valve typically costs between $25 and $80 for the part, while a pressure switch generally runs $15 to $50. If you hire a technician, expect to add labor costs ranging from $80 to $150 depending on your area and the complexity of the diagnosis.

Resetting the washer by turning it off and back on may temporarily clear the displayed fault, but the E12 error will return as soon as the machine attempts another fill cycle if the underlying problem has not been fixed. A reset is useful for confirming whether the fault is intermittent, but it is not a repair.
