The FB error code on a Jenn-Air oven indicates a communication failure between the oven's internal control boards, specifically originating from the PRB (Power Relay Board) side. The PRB is responsible for managing power delivery to heating elements, relays, and other high-voltage components. It communicates continuously with the main control board via a wiring harness. When that communication link is interrupted or degraded, the control system detects the fault and displays FB to alert the technician to a breakdown in the board-to-board data exchange.

The primary diagnostic path begins with the J2 harness, which is the connector responsible for carrying communication signals between the boards. A loose, corroded, or damaged J2 harness connection is the most frequent cause of this error and should be inspected before any board replacement is considered. Technicians should check for bent or pushed-back pins, heat damage to the connector housing, and continuity through each wire in the harness.

If the J2 harness checks out as intact and properly seated, the fault most likely resides within the PRB itself. Internal relay board failures can result from heat stress, component degradation over time, or power surge damage. In this case, replacing the PRB is the recommended corrective action. Because the error is flagged as originating from the PRB side, the main control board is generally not the primary suspect unless all other components test normal.
