However, running the unit repeatedly while the fault is active can put unnecessary strain on the wash pump motor, so it is worth diagnosing the cause before running additional cycles.

If the cause is simply using the wrong detergent or improperly loaded dishes, there is no parts cost at all. Replacing a rinse aid dispenser typically runs in the range of $15 to $40 for the part. A diverter disk is generally an inexpensive component, often in the $10 to $25 range. If the fault has caused damage to the wash pump motor, repair costs can rise significantly, typically ranging from $150 to $300 or more depending on parts and labor.

Start by confirming you are using a dishwasher-specific detergent and not hand soap. Check the rinse aid dispenser for leaks or overfilling and reduce the rinse aid setting if necessary. If detergent is not the issue, remove the lower rack and inspect the sump area to confirm the diverter disk is present and properly seated. Reloading deep bowls at an angle can also prevent water from being trapped and pulled into the pump as air.
