The root cause is typically a failing wash motor, a wiring issue, or a mechanical obstruction in the pump.

Continuing to run the dishwasher with this error is not recommended. A motor operating under low current conditions may overheat or fail completely, potentially causing additional damage. It is best to address the underlying cause before resuming normal use.

Repair costs vary depending on the failed component. If only a wiring connection needs to be cleaned or reseated, costs may be minimal. A replacement wash motor typically runs in the range of $80 to $200 or more for parts alone, with additional labor costs if a technician is hired. A control board replacement, if required, can add significantly to the total cost.

Start by inspecting the wash motor wiring harness and connectors for loose terminals, corrosion, or visible damage. Next, test the motor windings with a multimeter to check for continuity and proper resistance. If the motor or a start capacitor has failed, the defective component will need to be replaced. If wiring and the motor both test correctly, the control board may require further evaluation.

A power reset may temporarily clear the LED indicators, but if the underlying motor or wiring problem is still present, the error will return once the dishwasher attempts another wash cycle. The 30-second auto restart built into the control is also a form of automatic recovery, but it will not resolve a hardware failure. Proper diagnosis and repair of the root cause are necessary for a permanent fix.
