This is a protective feature, not necessarily a sign of a broken component.

A reset may clear the code temporarily, but if the underlying cause is still present, the E36 error will return as soon as the washer reaches the spin cycle again. Addressing the load distribution or mechanical issue is the only reliable way to prevent the code from coming back. To reset, unplug the washer for one to two minutes, then plug it back in.

If the issue is simply an unbalanced load or a leveling adjustment, there is no parts cost involved.
