Samsung Air Conditioner Error Code U200

The U200 error code on a Samsung air conditioner indicates a communication failure between the outdoor unit's main MICOM (microcomputer controller) and its sub MICOM, or between multiple outdoor units in a multi-unit configuration. The MICOM controllers coordinate compressor operation, fan control, inverter feedback, and sensor data sharing through an internal serial communication bus. When this data exchange is interrupted or fails to establish within the expected timeframe, the system flags U200 and halts operation to prevent uncoordinated or unsafe running conditions.

The most common hardware cause is a loss of the low-voltage DC power rails that feed the communication circuitry. The sub MICOM and inter-unit communication circuits typically require a stable 12V supply for signal transmission and a 5V supply for the logic circuits themselves. If either rail drops out due to a failing power supply board, a blown fuse, or a bad filter capacitor, the communication link cannot be established. Wiring faults between the main and sub control boards, including damaged harness connectors or corroded terminals on the communication lines, are also a frequent source of this fault.

In systems with multiple outdoor units linked together, the U200 code can also appear when the inter-unit communication wiring between outdoor sections is broken, reversed, or connected to the wrong terminals. Before replacing any control boards, technicians should perform an error reset using the K3 procedure and then immediately verify the 12V and 5V power supply outputs at the affected outdoor unit's control board. If the supply voltages are within spec and the fault returns, the communication wiring harness and board-to-board connectors should be inspected before condemning either MICOM board.
