You should not attempt to force documents through the ADF while this error is active, as doing so can tear the original and leave fragments inside the mechanism. The printer will block ADF-based operations until the jam condition is resolved. Basic flatbed scanning and printing functions may still be available depending on the model, but the ADF should not be used until the error is cleared.

A simple power cycle or soft reset will generally not clear U3-3314 if the underlying cause has not been resolved, because the jam detection sensors will re-trigger the error as soon as the ADF is used again. The jam must be physically cleared and any connection or component issues must be corrected first. Once the feed path is clear and functional, the error should not return during normal operation.

Start by opening the ADF cover and carefully removing any jammed or torn paper from the feed path. Once the path is clear, check that the original documents you are feeding are flat, undamaged, and free of staples or folds. Also inspect the cable connection between the ADF drive unit and the scanner assembly to make sure it is fully seated. If the error persists after clearing the jam and reseating the connector, the feed rollers or the ADF drive unit itself may need to be serviced or replaced.

If the fix is simply clearing a jammed sheet or reseating a loose connector, there is no parts cost involved. Replacing worn ADF feed rollers typically costs between $15 and $60 depending on the specific roller kit for the model.
