The cause is typically a failing fan motor, a wiring fault, or a bad connection at the PCB.

The refrigerator compartment will generally continue to cool while this error is active, since it targets the ice room fan specifically. However, your ice maker will likely stop working or produce ice inconsistently. Leaving a failed fan motor running can cause it to overheat, so it is best to diagnose and resolve the fault promptly rather than continuing to use the ice maker function.

Repair costs depend on the root cause. If the fix is simply reseating a connector or clearing an ice blockage, there may be no parts cost at all.
