Samsung Refrigerator Error Code Ice Maker(FF) Sensor

This error indicates a fault with the ice maker temperature sensor in the fresh food compartment. The fault can involve the sensor separating from its housing, a loose or corroded electrical connection, a wiring disconnection, or a short circuit in the sensor circuit. The Main PCB monitors voltage at connector CN90, pins 1 through 7, and triggers this code when the signal falls outside the expected range of 4.5V to 1.0V.

The fresh food compartment will generally continue cooling, so food safety is not immediately threatened. However, ice making in the fresh food section will likely be impaired or disabled while this fault is active. It is best to address the error promptly to avoid any secondary effects on ice production or compartment temperature regulation.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code from the display, but if the underlying fault, such as a loose connector, damaged wire, or failed sensor, has not been corrected, the code will return. Resetting is useful for confirming whether the issue is intermittent, but it is not a substitute for diagnosing and repairing the actual cause.

Some causes of this error are DIY-friendly. Checking the wiring harness for loose connections at the Main PCB connector CN90 and confirming the sensor housing is properly seated do not require special tools. However, testing voltage at CN90-1 to CN90-7 requires a multimeter and some comfort working around refrigerator electronics. Replacing the sensor or Main PCB is more involved and may be better handled by a qualified technician.

Repair costs vary depending on the root cause. If only the sensor needs replacement, parts typically range from $20 to $60, plus labor if a technician is involved. If the Main PCB is at fault, parts alone can range from $100 to $300 or more. A diagnostic service call generally runs between $75 and $150 before any parts are factored in.
