The error points to a communication failure between these two boards. It can be caused by loose wiring, corroded connectors, out-of-range supply voltage, or a failed steamer board or CCU.

A reset may temporarily clear the F39 code, but if the underlying cause is not corrected, the error will return the next time a steam cycle is attempted. Unplugging the washer for a few minutes can clear the fault from memory, but this should only be done after inspecting the wiring connections and confirming proper mains voltage. A persistent F39 after a reset indicates a hardware issue that needs to be repaired.

If the fix is simply reseating a loose connector, there is no parts cost and only your time is involved. A replacement steamer electronic board typically ranges from $50 to $150 depending on the model. A new CCU can range from $100 to $300 or more.
