First diagnostic step
1. Check lock system: examine latch arm pivot, arm/solenoid connection, piston and springs. 2. Inspect latch solenoid: check electrical connections, disconnect both solenoid wires and measure coil resistance (should be approximately 2450 ohms). If open or short circuit, replace solenoid. 3. Check latch switch with continuity test (locked=closed/0 ohms, unlocked=open/infinite). 4. Check door open/closed detection switch (open=closed/0 ohms, closed=open/infinite). 5. Check element power supply and connections.
