EF1 on a Crosley washer means the drain pump is clogged or unable to drain water properly. The washer detects that water is not evacuating from the tub at the expected rate and stops the cycle to prevent damage. Clearing the pump filter and removing any foreign objects from the pump are the recommended first steps.

Resetting the washer may temporarily clear the EF1 code, but the error will return if the underlying clog is not addressed. The control board will detect the drain problem again as soon as the machine attempts to drain. You need to physically clear the pump and filter before a reset will result in a lasting fix.

Also check that the drain hose is not kinked and that your household drain is flowing freely. If the error returns after cleaning, inspect the pump impeller for blockages or consider replacing the pump motor.

You should not continue running the washer while EF1 is active. If water cannot drain properly, it can remain standing in the tub and potentially lead to mold, odor, or overflow issues. Stop the cycle, allow the machine to drain manually if needed, and resolve the clog before running another load.
